DO’s
US Citizens Traveling to Africa, the Dominican Republic, Latin America, or Thailand on Business or Medical Missions- should do the following before leaving America:
- Have a US Passport with at least 5 blank pages available after your Visas are inserted.
- Be certain you have proof of Covid Vaccination with required booster vaccines.
- Register with the US Embassy in the countries you will be traveling to, before leaving America.
- Go to Concentra Medical facility in your area to get a Yellow Fever Certificate and get the required vaccinations for each country you will be traveling to.
- Practice social distancing and wear your mask just like in America to decrease the likely hood of catching covid.
- Take two or three rubber tourniquets to be placed on your arm or leg. Small, medium, and large to help stop bleeding. One for yourself and the other two for other people who may be victims of a car or bus accident and are bleeding.
- Put a Yellow or White stripe on your luggage to identify your luggage as they move through the luggage ramp so you can identify your bags quickly.
- Get your Visa(s) for the countries you will be traveling to.
- Record all debit, credit card, and phone numbers before you leave America and leave those numbers with a trusted friend or relative.
- Take sanitary hand wipes on the trip.
- Take Doxycycline or Malerin for Malaria. (Doxycycline once daily. Malarn once a week)
- Take extra prescriptions on the trip. Make a list of all your medications, you can buy them in the country cheaper than in the US.
- Buy the appropriate Electrical adapters for your computer and cell phone charging devices.
- Remember, the Voltages and Frequency in Europe and Africa are 220v to 240v at 50 Hertz. Any appliances you bring with you to Europe and Africa must have a transformer to adapt your appliances to these Voltages and Frequencies.
- Use ASAP Tickets or any discount flight travel agent to book your flight to Africa.
All of this will take time so don’t delay.
Don’ts
- Do Not wear a Christain Cross unless you are on a religious mission …
- Do Not wear expensive jewelry, rings, necklaces, etc…
- Do Not take pictures of government installations or a US Embassy or other Embassies…
- Do Not carry your purse on the street side when walking on sidewalks or on streets…
